Timothy Stewart, former Chair of the Moorpark College Visual and Applied Arts Department, attended the awards presentation. The Moorpark College Interior Design Program was recently discontinued and just completed the last course offerings in the Spring 2012 semester.  Four past recipients of the “Sandy Garrett Scholarship” were also in attendance as active CAPID members. The Conejo Association of Professional Interior Designers (CAPID), a non-profit organization, was established in 1980 to enhance the professional development of its members and to encourage high ethical standards in the design industry. In memory and tribute to longstanding member Sandy Garrett, CAPID established the “Sandy Garrett Scholarship” in 2004 to be awarded annually to an outstanding student of Interior Design at Moorpark College. It was Sandy’s personal goal that CAPID establish a scholarship program for the encouragement of professional education of interior designers. CAPID now awards yearly scholarships based on a review of student projects at Moorpark College.  Scholarship recipients are also invited to become Student Members of the organization, fulfilling one of CAPID’s goals: to nurture and educate aspiring students in our profession.
